'On a Slow Boat to China' was a very popular standard during the late 1940s, probably due to it's recognisable melody. There are many recordings of it - my favourite versions are the 1959 recording by the Sonny Stitt Quartet and the live 'A Night at Birdland' recording of the Harry Allen Quartet. 
 
Despite it's title, it's actually quite an up-beat song. I've tried to capture this in the bass line that I've written, starting with a two-feel then moving into a bouncy, and melodic walking line. I've included a tritone substitution, which is indicated on the sheet music for those who are interested in the theory.
